The Chapolin Canario ... according to Victor Rodriguez

Today we are pleased to share this post written by Tenerife bilar player Victor Rodriguez on Chapolin Canario.

Well, first I want to say that this is my opinion of this mode after three years in Tenerife Chapolin League and two in the league Tenerife Chapolin Flipper.

Here are the rules I know and play today:

It is said that the Chapolin Canario is a mix between pool and carom games, as the cue ball is as important as the other. These points add up as you enter the balls.

Usually played on a 9 foot table with a mat and carambola bands. The table is divided into two sides: right (white) and left (red). It is played with 15 balls numbered 1 to 15 plus the cue ball. Each ball is worth the number except the cue ball is worth 10 points. The sum total of all of the balls is 130 points.

The numbered balls are placed in order as shown above, with the ball 15 in the foot point:

Before the game both players must play the serve, measuring three bands (around the triangle) the player closest to the band band elect and remove. Every ball player in the band introduce you choose, adding balls (points). Attempting to enter the white on the break and get 10 points, then pulled the ball with less value in the table.

No need to touch a ball band after another ball contact, nor announce the pocket (hence can enter multiple balls at the same time and any pocket). Faults will be penalized two shots. If you enter a ball on the opposite side chosen, the player loses the ball (points) and turn. Eventually the player who made 66 points (or 65 plus the cue ball, here is the importance of introducing the white ball).

On youtube, looking Chapolin explained Canario can find video, plus various items. I share one

Well, once I explained the rules describe some pros and cons of this approach in my experience:

PROS

- The strategy is very important in this game. Win or lose, it all depends on the way you read the game and your opponent

- The variety of players: regular, casual, offensive, defensive, neutral ...

- The multitude of leagues on the island, with over 200 teams in total in different areas of the island

- The fans and the overall atmosphere is very good

- The overall facilities are usually good for playing game

- The band plays generates a lot of confidence when it comes to them in other ways.

- Insert the cue ball also helps greatly in combinations of modalities as 9-ball pool or ball 10

CONS

- Mat and carambola bands. This is something that not everyone shares, but as a pool player I have to say that this game is about putting balls and therefore control of the cue ball is very important. And if we want to adapt to the pool, we start here

- Each battle is played 2 wins. It is true that because of this any player can win a confrontation and therefore more appealing to this game, but for players who want to level up and train to get is usually a disadvantage.

- A ball that leaves the table or a player touches the ball with his shirt is not considered missing

- No shooting announced, so the luck factor can influence a confrontation ... and two wins

I hope also to know your opinion on this type of pool!
