10 accessories every billiard player should have in the cue case

A cue and chalk. It is all we need to go and win ball games. But most players carry in the cue case an array of additional accessories such as spare tips, shaft cleaners or gloves. There are minimalist players, and others who carry a real survival kit. In this week's article we highlight the 10 most useful accessories (although not strictly necessary) to take in your cue case and use them at any time.

Predator glove

1- Chalks

Bring at least one alternate chalk for when the main fails. It may fall and break or it may disappear. Sometimes changing the chalk can also be a good strategy to break a negative dynamic game.

2- Insoles

The era of the triangle or the Wingrack has passed. We now live in the insoles area. So you must take at least one for each type of Pool. Place it well because they bend very easily and then lose their charm.

3- Bridge or extension

You will always have balls which are impossible to reach, even if you're as tall as Ruslan Chinakhov. So you should take a good bat or an extension that fits your cue.

4- A good towel

It is a simple accessory, but necessary. To dry your hands, to clean the shaft or just to take it in your ritual concentration. The towel is always a good friend of billiardists, so choose one you like and you feel comfortable with, and why not, you can personalize it with your name.

5- Talc bag

Carrying a talc pot in your case might be cumbersome, and taking a small one can be dangerous if it opens. Perhaps a good choice is this simple bag with talc to soften your hands and shaft.

6- Summa tool for tips

With time and shots, tips tend to open. With a small tool like this you can review the tip from time to time and always keep it like new.

7- Spare tips

Obviously, it will not last a lifetime. It will chip, break or simply wear out of use. You should take some spare tips (here an analysis of different brands) for when you need. The ideal is to bring the same model of the tip you're playing with, not to notice big differences.

8-Jolly Cue

This is an ideal tool to put a new tip without dying in the attempt. In addition to the Jolly Cue, you will also need instant glue and a little sandpaper.

9- Cue Doctor Cleaner

The day I wrote about 10 billiard player oddities, I  forgot one: cleaning the shaft and the ferrule with a rag before storing to not discolor or take the blue tone that players don’t like. Using Cue Doctor liquid from time to time can keep your shaft untainted.

10-A good glove

I am not for using glove to play, but there will be some rooms where, by moisture or cold, playing without it is practically impossible. So it never hurts to take a good glove as the Predator in your cue case.

In this post we talked strictly about secondary accessories. So in the top 10 we do not include the essential material of a billiardist: the game cue and the break and jump cues.

Write in the comments what accessories you carry in your case and what seems more essential.
